EMI conducts its evaluation on new business from the perspective of regional economic development and demand, which is essential for getting the competitive advantages in new development territory. Geographically, EMI executed its extension strategy from Taiwan to  the coastal area of Mainland China and established Shanghai Haixing Yuanchang International Logistics Co., Ltd. (SHYIL) in 1995 by a joint venture. Operation kicked off smoothly since then and the operation volume has grown up substantially with the growing container volume of Shanghai year after year.
The operation of SHYIL covers road transportation, loading and unloading, warehousing, container rental, custom clearance and declaration, insurance, sorting, consolidation, stuffing and stripping, international freight forwarding and relevant business such as council and consultancy of loaded container damage, container cargo transportation and warehousing  management. It covers an area of 121,400 square meters. The maximum storage of the container yard is 20,000 TEU, with the annually turnover of 540,000 TEU. The existing CFS can load and unload with 75,000 TEU annually.
The rapid growth of the Mainland foreign trade provides the massive sources of goods for the containerized traffic. Port of Shanghai already became the third biggest port of the world and will continue to develop with the growth rate of 20% every year. For the potential capacity of the Port of Shanghai combined with the channel system of the EMG, SHYIL planed to move to the Pudong area for expanding the operation. According to the develop plan of Shanghai Authorities, the modern logistics will be one of the most important emerging industries. Based on the peripheral transportation and the infrastructure of the Pudong port area, it will further function as the center of the containerized traffic. SHYIL owns huge customer resources and the successful experience of providing start-to-finish service for importing and exporting for many years. The investment plan is expected to bring considerable earning for SHYIL.
